The John Buckley Estate is a true collector's auction, spanning an extraordinary range of categories: vintage automobilia, antique trade stimulators and slot machines, ornate gas lighting, fine walnut furniture, period artwork, vintage tools, architectural pieces, holiday collectibles and plenty of genuine oddities.
Look for radiator cap Moto-Meters, brass automotive headlights, hubcaps and horns; a Stickley tea wagon and carved secretary desk; antique lighting fixtures; early mechanical pieces and the kind of objects that make you stop and ask, "What is that?"

Simulcast Auction — Live with Online Bidding
Saturday, September 12 | 45 W Carey Street, Knightstown, IN
1. Auction Format
This sale is conducted in two distinct portions:
- Live Discovery Auction — 10:00 AM. Conducted live, in-person only. No internet/online bidding is available during this portion. Bidders must be physically present to bid and win.
- Catalog Auction (Simulcast) — 12:00 Noon. Conducted as a live simulcast auction, with bidding available both in-person at the auction location and online through Burgess Auctions' bidding platform(s). Online and in-person bidders compete for the same lots in real time.
2. Registration
All bidders, whether bidding in person or online, must register prior to bidding and agree to these Terms and Conditions. Online bidders must register through the designated online bidding platform and provide a valid credit card on file. In-person bidders must register on-site and provide valid identification.
3. Buyer's Premium
- Online Bidding: 20% Buyer's Premium
- Onsite (In-Person) Bidding: 15% Buyer's Premium
4. Payment Discounts
- 3% discount for payment by cash
- 1% discount for payment made within 24 hours of invoice issuance
Discounts apply to the total invoice and may be combined where applicable. Discounts do not apply to sales tax.
5. Bidding Increments
Bidding increments are set by the auctioneer and may increase as the price of a lot rises. The auctioneer reserves the right to accept or reject any bid, to advance the bidding at their discretion, and to determine the final winning bidder in the event of a dispute between simulcast bidding methods (live floor, live online).
6. Internet Connectivity
Burgess Auctions is not responsible for any failure of the internet, bidding software, or any device used by an online bidder during the simulcast portion of the sale. In the event of a technical failure affecting the online platform, the auctioneer reserves the right to continue the sale, pause the sale, re-offer the affected lot(s), or take any other action deemed appropriate to ensure a fair sale.
7. Condition of Lots / As-Is Sale
All items are sold "AS IS, WHERE IS," with all faults, and without any warranty or guarantee of any kind, whether expressed or implied. Descriptions, photographs, and estimates are provided as a courtesy and are believed accurate but are not guaranteed. Bidders are encouraged to attend the preview and inspect items in person prior to bidding. Preview: Friday, September 11, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM.
8. Payment
Full payment is due immediately upon conclusion of the auction, or as otherwise specified at registration. Online bidders' cards on file may be charged automatically for the total invoice amount (hammer price plus buyer's premium and applicable sales tax) unless other payment arrangements have been made in advance.
9. Sales Tax
7% Indiana sales tax will be added to each invoice unless the buyer provides a valid tax-exempt certificate prior to invoicing.
10. Removal / Local Pickup
Local pickup is Monday, September 14, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. Winning bidders are responsible for removal of purchased lots during this window. Items not picked up by the close of the removal period may be subject to additional storage fees or forfeiture, at the auctioneer's discretion. Shipping is available for this auction; shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer and are separate from the buyer's premium and hammer price.
11. Right to Withdraw / Add Lots
Burgess Auctions reserves the right to add, withdraw, or combine lots at any time prior to or during the sale.
12. Auctioneer's Discretion
The auctioneer's decision is final in all matters relating to the conduct of the sale, including disputed bids, and applies equally to bids received live, in-person, and via online simulcast bidding.
